Indigo is one of the oldest dyes used to colour fabric and was the only dye used to dye denim jeans. To dye a dark midnight blue, it some times takes more than 60 dips in the dye vat to achieve.
We've designed this workshop for yarn lovers, fibre artists, crocheters/knitters and everyone who wants to learn about the mysterious indigo dye. In this class we will be sharing how the indigo dye is prepared from plant to pigment, plus you will get to bring home a pack of indigo seeds to try your hands at growing them.
Each participant dye a total of 5 mini hanks of yarn – (3 x 50g) learn to achieve different shades of blue and (2 x 50g) using shibori techniques. We will be dyeing yarn spun from plant fibres in this workshop. Do come dressed in clothes that you don’t mind getting some dye on. Aprons and gloves will be provided if you need them.
Our studio indigo shibori workshop is limited to 4 participants so each individual gets quality guidance from our instructor. Please note that workshop slot may be rescheduled should the minimum class size of 2 pax is not met. You will be notified of any changes at least 2 days before the workshop.
